Midwest TJJ Day 19 by Gabe Bernstein

Gabriel Bernstein, boy on the right, is going into 11th grade and attends Ladue High School in St. Louis, MO.

Today we started off by going to Samuel’s Tomb and Rav Noam led us in song and prayer. After a short bus ride we had the opportunity to go to Dialogue in the Dark, which is a tour in total darkness led by a visually impaired person. My tour guide was named Danny and showed us how to identify different fruits and vegetables by touch. It really gave me a deeper understanding into how visually impaired people go throughout life and their day. We finished the day by going to Yom NCSY,  which is basically a huge party full of every NCSY summer group from all over. I made friends from New York, California and even Canada. About an hour into the party after an amazing BBQ, we went down to the dance floor and sung and danced to songs for hours! It was such an amazing experience to be with so many people that I felt connected to and definitely helped me strengthen my Jewish identity and community. I am really looking forward to many more meaningful and fun times on TJJ!
