Midwest TJJ Day 3 by Amelia Weinberger

Day 3 was a yes from me! We all woke up bright and early at 6 am to get ready for the day. We started off with prayers at 7. I really enjoyed singing songs and prayers with everyone around me. Our first stop of the day was our water hike. Sadly it got canceled yesterday, but we were so lucky to get to go today. That hike was definitely one of the best experiences ever. None of us really knew what to expect which I think made it even more enjoyable. We all got soaking wet and just took in the nature around us. We also got to go visit De Karina, a very popular chocolate company in Israel. We watched a fascinating video about how the company started up, and what they do. The chocolate was amazing! We had the opportunity to make our own designs and freeze them. So cool! Lastly, we went to get a tour of the IDF bunkers. This stop was definitely my favorite. I really felt most connected to Israel here. I’ve always heard about the IDF and what they do, but sitting inside the bunkers felt so real. We got a tour of the bunkers and played a game. In the bunker there is a memorial for the lost soldiers. We split into two groups, girls vs guys and we competed to see who could make it to the memorial first. The key was to stay a team and work as a team. Girls won of course! I’m so amazed by everything I saw today. Can’t wait for more days ahead like this!
